    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
Luigi Oddero, Barolo, Rocche Rivera, 2014

A fabulous a little known plot that is a continuation of the famous Rocche vineyard of Castiglione sitting above and next to Roagna’s Pira. The poor soils and east facing exposure make for a wine that favours elegance over power. Startlingly vivid, beautifully crystalline, red alpine berry fruit, gently scented, silky but with nerve and grip too, haunting, pure and stylish. Gorgeous.

This 2018 Figli Luigi Oddero Barolo Rocche Rivera has soft strawberry flavors with a round, soft, mouth-filling mid-palate and a tangy salty, savory finish. It is medium to full-bodied with fine sandy tannins. Approachable, friendly, and charming, it has a lovely softness and roundness without being heavy, a lightness and suppleness of tone but with plenty of intensity and drive at the same time.
