    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Mightily impressive. Even clearer, more refined, and sensual than previous renditions. Bramble and blueberry fruit with a chalky freshness and earthy complexity interspersed with sweet spice notes. Juicy, sumptuous and complex but already very easy to enjoy. Deep yet supremely elegant. From a prime south-facing parcel at the top of the hill where the soils are very sandy and chalky, within one of the great historic Crus of Barolo. Aged for 18 months in large used oak casks (a year less than usual) followed by two years in bottle before release.

The 2018 Barolo Vignarionda (with fruit from Serralunga d'Alba) shows dark fruit, ripe plum, savory tobacco, ferrous earth and dark iodine. There is plenty of power in this wine, but it also shows unexpected elegance with a tapered, long and extremely polished mouthfeel.
