Barolo, 2015
A little reticent at first but it reveals real beauty as it warms up and aerates. Crispy, gripping red fruit, hints of tea-leaf fuse with the sweet strawberry fruit and woody spice notes. There is proper structure here holding it altogether but a very fine-grained one. An extended finish is floral, elegant and fruity. This has a certain restraint and grace. Beautifully-balanced Barolo . A Barolo ‘Classico’ that is a blend from seven single crus in the Barolo, Castiglione and Serralunga regions. Aged for one year in large oak ‘botti’ and one year in barriques with a maximum of 15 percent new wood.
critic reviews
The 2015 Barolo is a pleasant, fruity wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice and leather are all given an extra kick of suppleness. Pliant and supple, the 2015 is not especially complex, but it is delicious.
