Showing a transparent or almost naked quality of fruit, the Roagna 2017 Barbaresco Paje is a lovely and graceful wine that maintains an exceptional feeling of lightness and elegance despite everything we've heard about this hot and dry vintage. The workmanship is exceptional in the Paje with chiseled aromas of forest berry, iris root, licorice and a subtle dusting of white pepper. The mouthfeel is characterized by extremely fine tannins. This is a production of 6,757 bottles.
The 2017 Barbaresco Pajè offers up a compelling mélange of sweet red-toned fruit, cinnamon, blood orange, leather, cedar and tobacco. Deceptive in its mid-weight structure, the 2017 fleshes out nicely with a bit of time in the glass, showing its natural breadth and creaminess. Here, too, there is a good bit of immediacy and overall appeal.
