Barolo, Sarmassa, 2009

Dense but very round and inviting, there is a tannic spine but the texture is distinctly velvety; wonderful ripe black and red forest berry fruit characteristics, with faint touches of limestone. Sarmassa is on the same hill and has the same exposure to the sun as Cerequio but is just over the border in the Barolo commune as opposed to La Morra. Only 1000 magnums of this were produced.
