Etna Rosso, Prephylloxera, 2015

A parcel of vines from within Calderara that are over 130 years old. The resultant wine is intense and very concentrated, it has a beautiful shape and delineation but is rather tactiturn at first. Certainly very different to the more opulent Calderara cuvee. Silky and with huge length of flavour yet very tight-wound. Flavours of strawberry, plum, bramble, kirsch with sweet spice and earth notes build with air. A profound Etna, and despite the smooth texture, one that will require time to realise its full potential.
