    A parcel of vines from within Calderara that are over 130 years old. The resultant wine is intense and very concentrated, it has a beautiful shape and delineation but is rather tactiturn at first. Certainly very different to the more opulent Calderara cuvee. Silky and with huge length of flavour yet very tight-wound. Flavours of strawberry, plum, bramble, kirsch with sweet spice and earth notes build with air. A profound Etna, and despite the smooth texture, one that will require time to realise its full potential.

    Vivid dark ruby-red. Aromas of red plum, red cherry syrup, mocha, flint and woodsmoke. Sweet, pliant and expressive, with outstanding sugar/acid balance to the rich, concentrated, fruit-driven flavors of raspberry and currant. Densely packed, sappy and light on its feet with firm but ripe tannins on the extremely long close. Much richer and denser than the Santo Spirito and Calderara Sottana in this vintage.
