You know when you are tasting the Delon range at Leoville Las Cases, you are tasting serious, classical wines with a strictness and authority. They are never blousy - nor would we want them to be. The Clos du Marquis is crafted from 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc from its own unique terroir mainly to the west of the D2. As one would expect, this is made for the purists. Quite introverted aromatically, then lots of cool dark berry and gravel fruit. This is very svelte, there's absolutely no fat at all, it's all rippling muscle, serious, classical and handsome. An old school claret with new school finesse.
