Gevrey Chambertin, 1er Cru, 2012
Soft and alluring yet with mightily impressive depth for a villages; scented bramble, victoria plum and cherry fruit. Ripe, lush, yet precise and refined. A blend of Au Velle (50% of the wine) and other parcels from around the appellation, from ‘young’ vines averaging 45 years old. Aged in 30% new oak.
critic reviews
Bright medium red. Musky redcurrant and plum aromas are complicated by game and leather nuances. Sweet and fine-grained, offering rich flavors of red and purple fruits. This elegant, concentrated village wine is already delicious but has the backbone to evolve gracefully.
