Echézeaux, Grand Cru, 2019

Broad-shouldered, enveloping and persistent, the Echezeaux is buttressed by oodles of purple fruit and plenty of structure. Of all the wines, this feels the most underdeveloped in the line-up. Although tannic and dense at present, there is a huge amount of complexity just below the surface, but it is going to be a while before those nuances reveal themselves. Bramble, black plum and black cherry stones are at present the most discernible fruits from a mass of concentrated, hearty fruit. The mouthfeel is intense and incredibly long, and there is no doubt that this will come good, for all the elements are there, however patience is going to be required.
