Côte Rôtie, La Viaillère, 2022

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

“Fully on the stones” is how Brigitte described this wine. Lifted, fresh raspberry fruit and cherry pits, parading juicy berries and sparkling floral notes, this 2022 is so detailed and elegant. Clusel Roch decided, as of the 2009 vintage, to bottle this up as a separate cuvée, when their vines had reached 32 years old and were producing outstanding wines. From a mid-slope parcel with a south, south-east facing aspect. The parcel located at the bottom of the slope still goes into the main Cote Rotie blend. Aged for around 16 months in a maximum of 15% new oak.

93/100Yohan Castaing,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Crafted from vines planted in the heart of the coteau, the 2022 Cote Rotie La Vialliere, fermented with 30% whole bunches, offers up aromas of violets, dark berries, cassis, spices and earth. Medium to full-bodied, dense and tense, it's linear, with a fresh mid-palate, a juicy core of fruit and nicely framed tannins and has an ethereal, elegant finish. Matured for two years in barrels, it displays greater depth and a racier mineral profile than Les Schistes.
