Château Hosanna, Pomerol, 2025
As always, Hosanna is the most lavish and extrovert of the Moueix wines, and although it is bristling with dark, sultry fruit and suggestions of Valrhona chocolate, it's perhaps a bit more red-fruited than normal. There's lots of eucalyptus, ripe griotte and exotic spices, plenty of grip and tension with a bit of glycerol and sweetness to the mid-palate. Good length and ample oak spice on the finish. Lots of material here.
critic reviews
The 2025 Hosanna was picked from September 1 to 19 and matured in 50% new oak barrels. Now this is a level up over the preceding Latour à Pomerol, with more energy locked into the nose, bright blackberry and raspberry fruit, hints of tobacco and light crushed stone scents. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, quite succulent tannins, fine acidity, juicy and caressing towards the satisfying finish. One of the more elegant Hosanna wines in recent years. Superb.
Lavender, cedar, black tea, liqourice root, graphite, crayon, intense, concentrated dark fruits. Harvest September 1 to 19. 50% new oak for ageing.
The 2025 Hosanna is showing excellent potential, wafting from the glass with notes of wild blueberries and blackberries mingled with hints of licorice and spices. Medium- to full-bodied, deep and polished, with a cool core of fruit, ripe tannins and excellent balance and integration, it's a blend of 74% Merlot and 26% Cabernet Franc.
