Château Roc de Cambes, Cotes de Bourg, 2014

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

François Mitjavile’s Côtes de Bourg property is always worth serious consideration if you like exotic, hedonistic Claret. The 2014 is packed with sloes, damsons, mulberries, sweet earth and incense. There is a really impressive extract here with a complex dark fruit core, exotic liqueur fruit and sensational purity. Unlike anything else from the Cote de Bourg, this is a most impressive, fresh, seductive Roc de Cambes which on the basis of our tasting is easily a match for the Tertre Roteboeuf!

critic reviews

85/100Lisa Perrotti-Brown,The Wine Independent

The 2014 Roc de Cambes is medium to deep garnet-brick in color. Tertiary notes of tobacco and leather lead to a core of dried figs and prunes with a hint of iodine. The medium-bodied palate is mature, with savory and dried berry flavors, finishing on a stewed tea note.

The 2014 Roc de Cambes is all perfume and silk in the glass. Understated and lifted in style, the 2014 is beautifully layered, with plenty of sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint and spice. All the elements are nuanced and delineated in an open-knit wine that should offer a wide window of fine drinking. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
