Château Roc de Cambes, Cotes de Bourg, 2024
Aromatically all Roc de Cambes with exotic spice, toast and ripe black plums. On the plate, the ripe, succulent tannins frame notes of oak spice and sweet bramble fruit, and salt on the finish. True to the Mitjavile style, with a nod to Hedone, but only a small one given the restrained vintage characteristics. Much to enjoy.
critic reviews
Deep garnet-purple colored. Charges out with notes of juicy red and black plums with hints of violets, tilled soil, and licorice. The medium-bodied palate delivers a good mouthful of ripe, expressive red and black berry flavors, supported by velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing fragrant.
The 2024 Roc de Cambes is quite opulent on the nose with black plum and blueberry fruit. In this vintage, I actually discern more nuance and complexity on the Domaine des Cambes. The palate is medium-bodied with a little more heft, though it retains admirable balance and purity. The tongue tingles with white pepper and red peppercorns on the aftertaste. Quite delicious again.
A sappy mixture of greengage and damson plum flavours, spiced white pepper and sage, a little austere and leafy but it retains estate typicity. 100% new oak for ageing, Mitjavile estate.
