Gevrey Chambertin, La Petite Chapelle, 1er Cru, 2013
Situated just under Chapelle Chambertin, where the soils are typically ‘Gevrey’ and clay-dominated. Classic-lined, gripping and powerful, nice weight and flesh but not too heavy. Generous but well-proportioned flavours of red berry fruits, currants, damson and raspberry.
critic reviews
Imposing and structured today, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Petite Chapelle 1er Cru is built on spine of serious tannin that gives the wine much of its personality. The 2013 finishes with substantial weight and a burst of dark fruit. This burly, powerful Burgundy is going to need time to come together.
The 2013 Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle has a more expressive bouquet than the Clos du Fonteny with a melange of red and black brambly fruit interlaced with woodland scents. The palate is extremely pure with filigree tannins, layers of red cherry and cassis fruit leading to a harmonious finish. Utterly charming, even if it does not possess the substance of Bruno's other Gevrey crus.
