Marsannay, Les Longeroies, 2019
More closed and concentrated than Vaudenelles. Dark cassis and black cherry fruit with a strong afternote of mineral. As dark brooding and serious as this is there is great energy as well as ripeness and intensity. A very smart Longeroies for laying down. A first rate Marsannay vineyard planted on poor soil, situated mid-slope, that is one of the prime candidates for elevation to Premier Cru status, a process Marsannay vignerons have got well under way. Fermented with 30% whole bunches and aged in predominantly used oak barrels.
critic reviews
The 2019 Marsannay Les Longeroies is one cuvée that shows a bit of sour maturity on the nose. The palate is sweet and ripe with black cherries and blueberry fruit, silky smooth but just missing a little delineation towards the finish.
