Marsannay, Les Longeroies, 2024
Clearly more depth with fine blood orange notes, crispy, chewy stone notes and more dimension and density than the Vaudenelles. Just four barrels out of a possible 25 were produced. A first rate vineyard planted on poor soil, situated mid-slope, that is one of the prime candidates for elevation to Premier Cru status, a process Marsannay vignerons hope will be confirmed before too long. Fermented with around 20% whole bunches and aged in predominantly used oak barrels.
critic reviews
The 2024 Marsannay Les Longeroies has a far more expressive bouquet than the Les Vaudenelles, with lifted red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit laced with rose petal and orange pith. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, much more weight and tension with tart red fruit on the finish. Just four barrels, unfortunately.
