Savigny-lès-Beaune, La Dominode, 1er Cru, 2010
Suave, warm and corpulent; velvety plum and cherry fruit, deep cooling minerals with ripe tinges of crème de cassis and kirsch, high-toned floral touches with earthier spiced fruit, herb, undergrowth and stone characteristics. An incredible wine that could easily live with some of the most prestigious single vineyard wines of the Côte d’Or in a blind tasting. A legendary Savigny parcel of extremely old vines, many of which were planted back in 1902.
critic reviews
Good bright, dark red. Subtle scents of strawberry, raspberry and earth. Broad and fairly powerful, offering more breadth and flesh (this parcel dates back more than a century) but less early sweetness than the Vosne-Romanee Champs-Perdrix. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins that call for a few years of patience.
