Savigny Lès Beaune, La Dominode, 1er Cru, 2017
justerini & brooks tasting note
Enormously intense if a little tactiturn and strict at first. Cool, earthy and gravelly with notes of smoky, smouldering dark berries, graphite, minerals and spices. As deep, concentrated and complex a Savigny as you will find. A legendary Savigny parcel of extremely old vines many of which were planted back in 1902.

The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has a much more backward, sulky bouquet compared to Les Jarrons, offering dark berry fruit and just a touch of flint that emerges with aeration. The medium-bodied palate displays a saline, almost briny opening. There is good density here, with tarry black fruit and that strong saline influence dominating the finish. A more cerebral Savigny.
