Savigny Lès Beaune, La Dominode, 1er Cru, 2020
Arthur and Edouard have been adapting their approach to this cuvee over the last couple of vintages, by lowering the whole bunch percentages and extracting more gently. The result is the most velvety and suave Dominode we can ever remember tasting. Rich, smooth dark berry and dark chocolate characteristics; ample and profound with floral notes and fresh fruit extending the finish. A legendary Savigny parcel of extremely old vines many of which were planted back in 1902.
critic reviews
Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berries, Indian spices, peonies and smoked duck, the 2020 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode is medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, its deep core of fruit framed by sweet tannins and lively acids, concluding with a violet-inflected finish.
The 2020 Savigny-lès-Beaune La Dominode 1er Cru has a precise, tertiary bouquet with blackberry and briary scents, just a touch of dry tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, hints of bell pepper emanating from the whole bunch, leading to a classically-styled, saline finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle.
