Rully, Rouge, Cuvée Marey, 2019
Rully of substance and power. Dense, dark berry, griotte and black cherry fruit with a notes of damson, cedar and asian spice. A profound, rich Rully that requires time to unfurl. An east facing 45 year old plot within the Clos de la Belle Croix vineyard. Aged in both steel cuve (one third) and wooden fut (two thirds,) one fifth of which are new.
critic reviews
The 2019 Rully Cuvee Marey has turned out very well, wafting from the glass with aromas of smoky berry fruit, orange rind and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, with fine concentration and powdery tannins, it's a bright, seamless wine that stands out as the finest rendition of this cuvee that I've tasted.
The 2019 Rully Clos de Bellecroix Cuvée Marey has a vivid bouquet with raspberry and cranberry fruit, touches of cassis and iodine, with just a hint of reduction that dissipates with time. The palate is well balanced with succulent red berry fruit, rounded in texture with a sweet candied finish. Absolutely delicious from start to finish, this is everything you want from a Rully red...and more.
