Beaune, Grèves, 1er Cru, 2019
A clear step up in class. Even more depth and complexity than the Sizies but more noble with it. The suave palate offers a nice mix of dark and bright red fruit, brambles loganberries and raspberries with a sweeter touch of victoria plum, cocoa and fruit liqueur. Full but svelte and refined, this wine offers depth, solidity and interest but without forcing the issue From 65 year old vines planted on soils with more clay than the Domaine's Beaune Sizies giving a denser wine. Fermented with a third whole bunches and aged in 20% new oak.

The 2019 Beaune 1er Cru Les Greves wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, red berries, sweet spices and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, ample and charming, with lively acids, melting tannins and a pretty, giving profile, it will drink well with minimal bottle age.
The 2019 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru includes around 50% whole cluster fruit. It is much more broody and backward on the nose compared to the Les Perrières, the fruit slightly darker. The palate is medium-bodied with ferrous-tinged red fruit, a little fuller than Les Perrières, though without quite the same degree of mineralité on the finish.
