Beaune, Grèves, 1er Cru, 2022
A polished power defines Grèves, with a very fine stoniness, flowers and crisp red berry fruit, as well as some notes of Darjeeling tea and fine plum. This is classy, composed and with a lovely energy to it. Salty freshness on the finish and a lovely brightness to the flavours throughout. Aged in 25% new oak and fermented with 30% whole bunches. From 65-year-old vines planted on soils with more clay than the Domaine's Beaune Sizies, giving a denser and more impressive wine.
critic reviews
The 2022 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru has more delineation and focus than the Les Sizies, with vivid red berry fruit mixed with light loamy scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This cuvée is quite candied in style with blood orange towards the grainy-textured finish. Fine, it’s just a little abrupt at the moment.
