Echézeaux, Grand Cru, 2016
As ethereal and fresh as you could hope for in this very concentrated vintage. Remarkable for its agility and style. This shows substance and force but it does not hit you hard, rather it builds, suggests and caresses. Long, silky vibrant fruit, a little bit of flesh to it but beautifully lifting. Juicy and really long fruit flavours of wild strawberry, griotte and raspberry. A stunning Echézeaux from two prime plots, les Rouges and Cruots.
critic reviews
The 2016 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a competent if not overall exciting bouquet, just a little staid compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet ripe tannins, black cherries and blueberry fruit with a touch of marmalade and blood orange towards the brisk and lively finish. With aeration it seems to express more some stem addition. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
