More restrained and saline, surprisingly so for Suchots, with floral red fruits, sweet tannins, a spine of minerals and broad sweet-fleshed fruit on the finish. A very becoming Suchots that has a restrained generosity and a good deal of style. A top-flight Premier Cru where the clay-dominated soils give typically smooth voluptuous Vosne Romanees.

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a slight reduction on the nose, though perhaps it doesn't deliver the tension and complexity of the Aux Brûlées or Les Beaux Monts. The medium-bodied palate has fine tannins and dark berry fruit mixed with white pepper and light garrigues notes. It is quite complex and refined on the finish. Lovely.
