Pommard, Clos Blanc, 1er Cru, 2022
Complex and aromatic on the nose, with notes of plum and autumn raspberry fruit, blood orange and touches of wild verdant spice. Very fine tannins drive the supple fruit across the palate, with touches of salt giving freshness to the finish. Fruit and fine lines. Lovely plus. This comes from the Northern sliver of Clos Blanc, adjacent to Grands Epenots. Half the plot is on white calcaire de Nantou soils, the other half on redder soils, similar to Grands Epenots. A great vineyard and a highly reliable source of top Pommard
critic reviews
The 2022 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru has an expressive nose with red berry fruit, a touch of pine cone and Provençal herbs, well-defined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins. Very well-balanced - not a powerful Pommard, though the finish is silky smooth, caressing, and quite sensual (for Pommard). Very fine.
