    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Often one of the star wines in the Drouhin cellars, though this can be a behemoth it is never out of balance. This is true to type: big-framed dark fruit tannins, notes of bramble, cherry, black and redcurrant with hints of sloe sweetness offsetting a complex salt and savoury dimension, spice, herb and touches of coal dust notes ala Rhône, too, culminating in an enormous finish. A breathtaking wine that will need several years in bottle for all of its many layers to unfurl.

Medium red. Pungent, highly expressive aromas of raspberry, blood orange, flowers and spices; exotic in the context of this classic vintage. Juicy, sweet and gripping on the palate, with a weightless, delicate quality to the sharply delineated flavors of raspberry, orange peel and minerals. Really effortless, classy wine, conveying an impression of extract without extraction. Finishes with suave tannins and impressive subtle persistence. A beauty.
