Nuits St Georges, Les Chaignots, 1er Cru, 2015
The extremely old vines here suffered more during the dry summer than Chevillon’s other parcels, producing only, half a crop. The wine is noticeably different than usual, offering more brawn and structure, intense spicy dark fruit flavour notes of bramble, loganberry, currant and sloe. Particularly powerful, this will reward a few years longer in bottle than usual. A Nuits Premier Cru vineyard on the Vosne side of the appellation and thus usually one of the silkier and lighter wines of the Chevillon cellar.
critic reviews
Dark red-ruby. Black raspberry and a suggestion of almost porty chocolatey ripeness on the nose. Then dense and juicy in the mouth, showing very good intensity and a repeating ripe chocolatey quality to its rich dark fruit flavors. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and an impression of medicinal reserve.
