Nuits St Georges, Les Chaignots, 1er Cru, 2023
Creamy plump fruits with touches of ripe earth and sweet tannins. Still some way to go in élevage but there’s admirable fruit concentration and decent freshness in a dark-fruited, sumptuous yet typically silky Chaignots style. A Nuits premier-cru vineyard on the Vosne side of the appellation and thus usually one of the silkier and lighter wines of the Chevillon cellar.

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Chaignots 1er Cru has a fresh and joyful bouquet of brambly red fruit, briar and light stony scents. The palate is vibrant on the entry with orange rind-laced black fruit. Yes, maybe a little exoticism surfaces toward the finish, but this is nicely focused with decent length. The 2023 is quite a savory Chaignots in the making.
