Spiced and concentrated red-fruit aromas. Open and generous aromatically, with a firm spine of tannin and crushed rock bringing control. The typically strident minerality of the vineyard gives great focus to the fruit. This is no shrinking violet but there’s some definition to the fruit and a very long finish. Rather good, full of impact. From the poor stony soils of Perrières, this is a Nuits that often produces wines in the classic mould – robust, but streamlined and mineral.

The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Perrières has turned out nicely, delivering aromas of cassis, violets and plums, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple palate framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the chalky, mineral finish.

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Perrières 1er Cru was another cuvée that showed some reduction on the nose. Nevertheless, the palate is very promising and a little less opulent than that of the Roncières, with a mix of red and black fruit, a hint of allspice and light savory notes toward the finish. The pH seems a little lower here, resulting in a fresher finish. Give this two or three years once in bottle.
