Hautes Cotes de Nuits, Rouge, Aux Chaumes, 2021
There’s greater depth here, more precision of flavour with savoury salty fruit and impressive freshness. A wine of lift and energy that also offers a step up in complexity and detail from the straight Haut Côtes. Planted on the plateau on poor limestone soils. The vines are planted north to south.
critic reviews
Exhibiting arose of plums, orange zest, sweet berries and loamy soil, the 2021 Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Nuits Aux Chaumes is medium-bodied, soft and supple, with a giving, open-knit profile and a saline finish.
The 2021 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Aux Chaumes, from very limestone soils, has a fragrant, floral bouquet with ample dark cherry and blackcurrant fruit, neatly defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sour cherry and orange rind, fine depth, quite linear towards the finish with a tangy marmalade aftertaste. Give it a year in bottle.
