Hautes Cotes de Nuits, Rouge, Aux Chaumes, 2022
A more supple, polished and finer offering than the Bourgogne, yet there remains plenty of suave fruit and a genuine sense of weight and presence for a ‘mere’ Hautes Côtes. A lively fresh, mineral finish rounds things off beautifully. Planted on the plateau on poor limestone soils. The vines are planted north to south.
critic reviews
The 2022 Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Nuits Aux Chaumes exhibits notes of plums, orange zest and red berries, followed by a medium-bodied, tangy palate that's finer-boned and more delicate than its generic counterpart. Given that the soils here are quite rich in clay, I would be surprised to see it take on a little more weight in a year's time.
The 2022 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Aux Chaumes, which comes from the border of the Vosne appellation, has a more elegant and refined bouquet compared to the regular bottling sans lieu-dit. The palate is well-structured with firm grip, a little drier and more sinewy in style with admirable length on the finish.
