Vosne Romanée, 2005
From three different parcels in the commune, 15, 25 and 32 year old plots. Excellent quality of fruit, intense, tight, pure and grippy but with a nice finesse, juicy forest berry fruit finish.
critic reviews
Good deep red. Aromas of dark raspberry, blood orange and spicy oak. Dense, supple and sappy, with terrific stuffing and structure for a village wine. Finishes impressively long and sweet, with dusty, ripe tannins. An uncommonly good village wine.
From La Colombiere, just east of the village, the Cathiard 2005 Vosne-Romanee displays bright cherry and cranberry on the nose, an alternation of brisk freshness with hints of caramel and a subtle floral note on a creamy, texturally refined palate, and a lovely finish in which the fruits and flowers are joined by white pepper and cardamom.
