Vosne-Romanée, 2024
A much darker-fruited, more tannic and more serious proposition than the Gevrey villages, as is so often the case. A brooding Vosne with plenty of earthy grip and dark toned, sultry fruit. Habitually a Vosne showing distinct "Nuits" traits. Aged in 50% new oak barrels originating from five parcels of vines aged between 30 and 60–years old
critic reviews
More structured than Cathiards Gevrey-Chambertin, the 2024 Vosne-Romanee Village unfolds from the glass with aromas of peony, plum, cherry and spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, supple and lively, framed by velvety tannins and animated by vibrant acids, culminating in a long, fragrant finish. It derives from five plots.
The 2024 Vosne-Romanée Village was showing just a small reduction on the nose but there are pretty redcurrant and cranberry fruit, touches of incense emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins compared to the previous vintage, quite saline and gourmand with touches of black pepper and bay leaf towards the structured finish. Again, it deserves a couple of years or more to just shave its edges once in bottle.
