Côte Rôtie, La Landonne, 2022
Intense, lifted high toned spicy red and blue fruits with a wash of brambly currants, La Landonne ’22 is really quite profound and transparent, very long and sophisticated. A little bit of wildness, cocoa and more present tannins frame the wine, with detailed hints of mint and heather and violet – to a deep, long finish. 100% Fermented with whole bunches and aged in large demi-muid casks, a maximum of 10% of which are new.

Brooding and complex, the 2022 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne has developed splendidly since I last tasted it from barrel one year ago. Fresh violets, stemmy subtleties, pencil shaving, black cherry and crushed rock notes are all dialed up. A slice of orange rind adds another aromatic layer. Firmly structured by ripe tannins, the 2022 is a singular La Landonne, closing with drive on the nuanced finale.
