Maximin Grünhauser Abtsberg, Riesling, Superior, 2015

Carl von Schubert produces this food friendly wine in the traditional style, allowing the natural indigenous yeasts to run their course in large old fuders, the wine generally finishing just outside the official trocken designation. It is a serious wine, wonderful on the table, with plenty of rich citrus fruit cut with bitter citrus pith, herbs and fine granular minerality. A wine of great balance and pitch and a very satisfying ‘tonic’ quality.
