Battenfeld-Spanier
Kirchenstück, Riesling, Grosses Gewächs, 2018
justerini & brooks tasting note
Salt and grass and fine stones. Energetic, mouth filling minerals. Very persistent and long. Peach and fine herbs. Very intense and concentrated but also not extreme. Layered with minerals and great focus on the finish. Elegant and powerful. Cherry blossom and stones. Bags of wine here.

The 2018 Hohen-Sulzen Kirchenstuck Riesling GG is very precise and clear on the flinty and crunchy nose. Intense and charmingly round and rich, this is a tight and well-structured Kirchenstuck that is cooler than the 2017. On the palate, this is very salty, finessed and full of tension, which is a good balance to the richness and power. Excellent. Tasted at the domaine in March 2020.
