Barolo, Carobric, 2003
A wine of two communes, Carobric is the result of a blend of three top Barolo Crus: Cannubi of Barolo, Rocche of Castiglione and Bric del Fiasc of Castiglione. This is a juicy, inviting Barolo, offering ripe berry and currant flavours with notes of cocoa, christmas spice and dried fruits. A wine that mixes fruitiness, warmth and power.
critic reviews
Scavino's 2003 Barolo Carobric is impeccable. Sweet floral notes meld into dried cherries, raspberries, mint and spices. As always, the Carobric is lifted and aromatically expressive. Tertiary notes are still a few years out, especially from magnum. Given the wine's mid-weight structure I suggest drinking the 2003 sooner rather than later. All the elements are in the right place in this perfumed, aromatic Barolo made from parcels in Cannubi, Rocche dell'Annunziata and Bric del Fiasc.
