Barolo, Rocche dell'Annunziata, 2019
Every inch a majestic showcase, the Rocche 2019 has a broad, sweeping feel as it envelops the nose with freshly cut strawberries, redcurrants and violets. It shows a little oak at the moment, but this is welcome in and amongst a panoply of sparkling ruby fruits and flowers, tingling acidity and really quite detailed tannins. Superb. From two parcels south and southeast facing within one of the region’s great vineyards, situated in the Annunziata sub zone of La Morra. Aged for two years in small, lightly toasted French oak barrels, no more than 20% new.
critic reviews
The 2019 Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata is a very pretty wine from this La Morra site. It offers up scents of crushed red berry fruit, rose petal, mint, chalk, white pepper and orange peel. Medium in body and sinewy, with terrific persistence and high-toned aromatics, the 2019 is all class. I especially admire its translucent, super-classic personality.
