St Joseph, 2021
As in 2008, the Perrets have focussed their efforts on making the best St Joseph blend possible, including their prized old vine material from Les Grisieres. This has added depth to the naturally crisp, perfumed notes, bringing an extra layer of ripe forest fruits and dark liqueur cherries, all framed by fine tannins and a good jostling acidity. A blend of Syrah vines in the commune of Chavanay in the north part of St Joseph near Condrieu. Made from 100% de-stalked Syrah and aged in 20% new oak barriques usually for 12-14 months.
critic reviews
The light-bodied 2021 Saint-Joseph cannot keep up with the two surrounding vintages. Coming in at 12.5% alcohol, it presents shy red fruits alongside leafy gradations. Fairly simple yet well-balanced and without any rough edges, the 2021 should be consumed as long as the primary fruit is still showing.
