St Joseph, 2022

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

A destemmed St Joseph Rouge which represents the crispier, more sapid Syrahs found in the northern part of the St Joseph appellation, around the village of Chavanay, as opposed to the warmer, more baritone heartlands around Hermitage. The 2022 offers a complimentary mix of red and dark fruits with touches of cocoa nib, bitter herbs and cracked pepper allied to ripe, quality tannins. Aged for around 18 months in 500L French oak, 15% of which is new.

critic reviews

91/100Yohan Castaing,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

Fresh and lively, Perret's 2022 Saint-Joseph reveals a delicate and perfumed bouquet of dark berries, violets and spices, followed by a moderately weighted, elegant and juicy palate that leads to a mouthwatering, long finish. This is a well-crafted, easygoing Saint-Joseph.

I tasted various samples that will compose the final blend of the 2022 Saint-Joseph. Vinified from fully destemmed fruit, it expresses sour cherry nuances, black cherry, distant blackberry, spicy undertones and some cedar. Medium-bodied and backed by fresh acidity, it shows solid potential.
