Barolo, Brunate, 2010

justerini & brooks tasting note

Oddly more immediate than the Bricco Viole though clearly more complex too. This wins you over immediately with its powerful, racy intensity. Vibrant flavours of red fruits, sweet mulberry and autumn fruit mixed with touches of earth smoke and cinnamon. A Brunate that shows tremendous depth, character and of course typically large-framed structure yet with a distinct finesse to the texture . Superb. One of the top Cru vineyards of Barolo, situated high up in the La Morra commune. A touch more new oak is used for this (40%) than the Bricco Viole because of the extra power of the Brunate wines, however the extra influence of oak on the flavour itself is minimal.

critic reviews

94/100Antonio Galloni,Vinous

Dark red cherries, plums, smoke, licorice and violets burst from the glass in the 2010 Barolo Brunate. Translucent, transparent, yet powerful, the Brunate shows all the signatures of this great site. Here, too, the wine clearly needs time, but the balance is unquestionably quite fine. In particular, the wine's inner sweetness and pure perfume will thrill readers who like aromatically expressive Barolos.
