critic reviews

93/100Anthony Mueller,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2022 Windansea Pinot Noir presents a fresh, red fruit profile that is distinctly firm, with a tannic structure and a sense of rocky terroir. This wine is more assertive in nature, featuring robust tannins and hints of tree bark, turned earth, dark cherry skin, black raspberry and spiced plums. The finish is enriched with spicy potpourri, making it exceptionally food friendly. Aged for 11 months in Burgundy barrique with 22% new oak, this Windansea Pinot Noir is a notable wine, ready to impress those who enjoy New World Pinot Noir. This is a limited production of only 2,598 bottles.

92/100Neal Martin,Vinous

The 2022 Pinot Noir Windansea comes from more shallow clay soils than the Seadragon, but there is more stem use here, between 30% and 40%, depending. Matured in 22% new oak for 11 months, this has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet, crushed rose petals infusing the red cherry and wild strawberry fruit, just a touch of undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins and lightly spiced, slightly confit-like towards the finish, with a tangy, blood orange-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Very fine.
