Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux, Margaux, 2007
Almost half of the production is to be bottled as Pavillon Rouge this year, made up of a blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. The nose is closed but closely-knit and rounded, with hints of cloves and purple flowers; luxurious and very smooth on the palate, the wine has medium body and fine tannins. This a delicate Pavillon, but well-balanced and full of flavour, with hints of tar and liquorice on the finish.
critic reviews
(58% cabernet sauvignon, 37% merlot and 5% petit verdot) Bright red-ruby. Very fresh aromas of cassis, raspberry, minerals, licorice and flowers. Supple and nicely fine-grained but a bit lean, with a faint herbal/peppery quality giving this moderately dense wine a dry edge. Finishes with a firm spicy quality and good length, but could use a bit more sweetness of fruit.
