Château Mouton Rothschild
Château Mouton Rothschild, 1er Cru Classé, Pauillac, 2013
justerini & brooks tasting note
Produced from 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2013 Mouton Rothschild is a brooding melting pot of dark fruit, minerals, graphite, violets and crushed rocks interspersed with high toned summer berries. This is not a profound Mouton, but there is ample sweet cassis fruit and hints of griotte and raspberry liqueur on the palate. Good mouth coating texture. It's not big, but there's plenty of depth and one is left with long fine grained fruit tannins. It should benefit from elevage.
