Corton, Les Combes, Grand Cru, 2022
justerini & brooks tasting note
A parcel that sits close to Chapitre, facing South yet cooled by the Pernand Combe. Relatively deep clay soils invariably produce a Corton of approachability and a certain plumpness. And in 2022 we find a measure of richness to the seductive red fruits, plenty of rich polished tannins and a deep earthy core. There’s no shortage of dimension here.

Back after MIA last year, the 2022 Corton Les Combes Grand Cru conveys a sense of energy on the overly floral nose, determined to make an impression. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit. There’s gentle grip with just a hint of sous-bois, leading to a precise and elegant finish. One of the best reds from the Domaine this year.
