Barolo, Bric del Fiasc, 2007
A wine of power and stature, incredibly handsome and toned, intense flavours of dark chocolate, juicy red cherries, hints of bittersweet Morello and richer griotte touches, firm but fruity, pure and long with a hint of spice and earth, supported by finely etched tannins. This simply has it all and should prove to be one of the great Cru Barolos. The same vineyard as Azelia’s Bricco Fiasco but named using the Piedmontese dialect. A pioneering wine, first released back in 1978, this was one of the first single Cru Barolos.
critic reviews
Good full, deep red. Brooding, medicinal nose shows less floral lift than the Cannubi but very good ripeness. Big and rich but with a subdued sweetness today; a bit lower-toned than the Cannubi. This very backward wine will need a long time in bottle to resolve its major load of tannins.
