Barolo, Bric dël Fiasc, 2022
For us, the standout wine in the range, the 2022 Bric del Fiasc is a wine of noble tannin and sumptuous, lavish, but complex fruits. Smaller berried with a clearer Alpine feel, it offers an impeccable mix of ripeness and minerality – a harmonious cuvee with a sense of measure. Bric del Fiasc is not a particularly high vineyard, but its fresh marl soils with sands means a combination of silky ripeness and mineral freshness. The Scavinos own 2.8ha in the centre of the vineyard, facing southwest.

The 2022 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is one of the more complete wines in the range this year. Bold and expansive on the palate, the 2022 offers up a beguiling mix of black fruit, leather, grilled herbs, chocolate and scorched earth. It's potent and somber, but the Bric del Fiasc has a ton of personality. Time in the glass brings out attractive floral top notes.
