Chambolle Musigny, Les Veroilles, 1er Cru, 2011
Tight-knit and precise, even stonier and more mineral than the Fuées. Long, powerful flavours of cassis, cherry and redcurrant mixed with earth, limestone and sea salt touches. Compact, layered and profound. Véroilles is one of Chambolle’s highest Crus, along with Fuées, adjacent to Bonnes-Mares, often producing very intense, racy and tight-knit wines.
critic reviews
Good medium red. Ripe aromas of purple fruit, crushed stone and minerals, accented by a slightly raw peppery note. Rich, broad and silky on entry, then closed and a bit dry in the middle. Ultimately less satisfying and consistent than the Fuees, with the tannins more obvious today. This wine needs four or five years to gain in precision.
