Chambolle Musigny, Les Veroilles, 1er Cru, 2022
Freshness, energy and salty red fruits come together in this dart of a wine - focussed, driving, and mineral, with taut concentration and freshness. Blood orange and wild strawberry, salt. Lovely plus. Transparent and bright eyed, with wonderful energy. This is one of Chambolle’s higher Crus sitting adjacent to Bonnes-Mares. It also has denser soils than its neighbouring Chambolle vineyards, often producing very intense, mineral but powerful and compact wines, rather like Bonnes Mares in style.
critic reviews
amounts to just a single barrel (300 bottles). It has a crystalline bouquet with ebullient red fruit, crushed limestone and light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy mouthfeel and great depth. There's a real peacock's tail on the prolonged finish. Wonderful.
