Chambolle Musigny, Les Veroilles, 1er Cru, 2014
Blackberry and blueberry flavours with strong mineral undertones, certainly on the darker side of the Chambolle spectrum, with a stunning satin-like texture. The wine is dense and has structure, rather like Bonnes Mares in profile, but is so suave with it. Véroilles is one of Chambolle’s highest Crus, along with Fuées, adjacent to Bonnes-Mares. It also has denser soils that its neighbouring vineyards often producing very intense, mineral but powerful and compact wines.
critic reviews
Good full red. Liqueur-like redcurrant and red cherry plus an earthy nuance on the very ripe nose. Sweet, creamy and very smooth in the middle palate, offering very ripe, slightly high-toned flavors of strawberry and raspberry. Then totally different on the back end, where firm minerality and brisk acidity give terrific grip to the finish. This fascinating wine will need time to resolve its tannins.
